Promoting science and STEM… with bottle rocket workshops!
Bottle rocket workshops delivered by the next generation of STEM practitioners to inspire and engage your students in STEM.
Developed with Year 3 to Year 9 students in mind – but fun for all ages!
About UWA Aerospace:
UWA Aerospace is a student-led technical team focused on developing high-powered rocketry capabilities in Western Australia. They design, build, and launch rockets for high-altitude research, as well as promoting space science and STEM in the community.
As part of their community engagement and promotion, they offer a rocket workshop ideal for both school incursions and community groups. It’s a great opportunity to learn about science and apply theoretical concepts to the real world, as well as encouraging participants to engage in creative problem solving and teamwork.
Participants get to design and build bottle rockets that are launched at the conclusion of the workshop. Learning areas include science understanding, science inquiry skills, science as a human endeavour, earth and space sciences and physical sciences.
UWA Aerospace is a team of undergraduate and postgraduate students studying at UWA, primarily comprised of mechanical, software and electrical engineers. The workshop provides a unique opportunity for students to be inspired by, and interact with some of the brightest and best minds in the next generation of STEM practitioners.
The workshop can be customised to run for between one and two hours. While developed for school-aged students, the workshop is also suitable for the young at heart, with staff and corporate team-building options available.
