Rebecca Prince-Ruiz presents to students about the Plastic Free July Challenge – the global movement she started that helps millions of people be part of the solution to plastic pollution.

In addition to the Plastic Free July challenge, Rebecca is also available to talk about environmental issues in general, waste avoidance, plastic pollution, and inspiring behaviour change.

Rebecca Prince-Ruiz is based in Perth, Western Australia, and available to deliver her talks to schools across the world – either in person, or online.

About Rebecca Prince-Ruiz:

Rebecca founded the Plastic Free July campaign in 2011 and evolved it into a global movement. In 2020 it empowered 326 million people across 177 countries to join a community and commit to choosing to refuse the single-use plastic in their lives.  As the Executive Director of the Plastic Free Foundation, Rebecca leads the delivery of the annual challenge.Tthe foundation’s vision is a world without plastic waste.

With over 25 years’ experience in environmental and waste management, community engagement and sustainability, Rebecca draws on her experience of working in the waste industry, researching marine debris, pioneering the public plastic waste conversation and advising governments on plastic reform to provide a unique perspective and internationally renowned expertise in tackling the global plastic waste problem.

Rebecca is a proficient international presenter with an ability to break down problems into manageable and actionable steps to leave her audience inspired and equipped to take the next step towards a plastic waste free world.

Rebecca was recognised as a 2021 WA Local Hero in the Australian of the Year awards. Her book – ‘Plastic Free – The Inspiring Story of a Global Environmental Movement and Why it Matters’ was published in July 2020.
