“Huia spoke to my Environmental Class, a group of Year 9 students who were interested in recycling. She was engaging, clear and informative. The information she presented was was appropriate for the level of the students.
She has a natural, relaxed style and a big smile to win over those who are reluctant.
I thoroughly recommend Huia as a guest speaker.”

What exactly does ‘The Circular Economy’ mean?

We take resources from the ground to make products, which we use, and, when we no longer want them, throw them away. Take-make-waste. We call this a linear economy. This kind of economy drains our natural resources, creates huge amount of waste and damages our environment.

A circular economy works in a different way. It operates within planetary boundaries and is based on three key principles:

  1. Design out waste and pollution
  2. Keep products and materials in use
  3. Regenerate natural systems
